
TORCH: The Academy of Politics is an education leadership training designed for aspiring candidates, campaign staff, and education advocates to learn what it takes to run a successful electoral campaign and transform the power structures in the Baton Rouge education ecosystem.

Do you want to be a candidate who runs on a strong student-centered agenda?
Program Structure & Expectations
TORCH participants commit to completing an intensive, seven-month training program. The in-person sessions will require full engagement, attendance at all sessions, and completing assignments. Written work may include surveys, assessments, and other tasks.
Participants will have access to a digital resource library, which will include a wide range of materials, as well as the opportunity to participate in ongoing advocacy and electoral activities with the Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action.
Module Information & Overview*
The Bootcamp will take place over the course of seven months. Participants are expected to attend all sessions for their full duration. Sessions include:
- Campaign Messaging
- Building a Campaign Plan
- Campaign Finance & Fundraising
- Data & Technology Utilization
