We are grateful to Dr. Sito Narcisse for his service to East Baton Rouge students, especially during the uncharted challenges of pandemic recovery. He leaves the role of EBR Superintendent having instigated initiatives that should live on, including expanding early childhood education, increasing opportunities for dual enrollment, and implementing universal screening for gifted students. We wish him well in his future endeavors as he continues to use his heart of service for the benefit of students.

The board’s actions have spoken clearly, demonstrating that they have a specific vision for education in Baton Rouge. The focus now shifts to finding a leader who will build on the district’s areas of strength while working alongside this board to urgently identify policies that will accelerate student achievement. The East Baton Rouge School Board has already announced that they will name an interim superintendent tomorrow. We are confident in their leadership and commitment to swiftly and thoughtfully partner with the next superintendent to drive a shared vision of creating a brighter future for all students in East Baton Rouge.
