Last year, EBR took an important step forward: they adopted a better, more transparent budgeting process. But transparency alone isn’t enough. Student-based budgeting is a funding model for public schools that puts students at the center of financial decisions. Instead of distributing resources based on staffing formulas or fixed allocations per school, districts using student-based budgeting allocate dollars directly to schools based on the individual needs of their students.
