Last year, EBR took an important step forward: They adopted a better, more transparent budgeting process. But transparency alone isn’t enough. Student-based budgeting is a way of funding public schools that puts students at the center of financial decisions. Instead of distributing resources based on staffing formulas or fixed allocations per school, districts using student based budgeting allocate dollars directly to schools based on the individual needs of their students.
