BATON ROUGE, LA – The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action is proud to announce the newest phase of its candidate and campaigners program as a new leadership cohort, TORCH: The Academy of Politics. The application process for the relaunched programming begins on February 1, 2023 – February 24, 2023.

TORCH is a seven-month, tuition-free program open to community members interested in elected office or campaign support. Its mission is focused on developing the next generation of political leaders in our community. The curriculum will provide an in-depth foundation for civically-minded individuals to launch a political campaign.

Participants will receive training in campaign messaging, grassroots campaigning, fundraising, financial management, and data and technology tactics. A bipartisan group of subject matter experts will present during monthly sessions to share experiences and best practices for successful campaign operations.

“We believe that individuals with a variety of backgrounds will better represent our diverse community by becoming more civically engaged,” Adonica Pelichet Duggan, CEO of Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action. “This program provides learning opportunities to all future candidates and campaign support teams.”

Since TORCH’s inaugural class in 2021, 2 of its 18 former participants have been successfully elected to serve in state and local offices.

Applications are now open through Friday, February 24, 2023. More details and information are available at www.brallianceaction.org/torch
