The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action applauds Louisiana students for historic academic gains, placing our state first in the nation for reading growth and second in math growth.
According to the latest Education Scorecard from researchers at Harvard, Stanford, and Dartmouth, Louisiana’s progress represents one of the strongest post-pandemic academic recoveries in the country. Louisiana is the only state where average student performance has surpassed pre-pandemic levels in both reading and math. This outcome reflects years of focused leadership, high academic standards, strong accountability, and strategic investment in education. The results also underscore the direct impact of intentional, student-centered policies and the dedication to and support of educators across the state.
Louisiana’s robust accountability system sets clear expectations and transparent benchmarks to ensure every public school delivers a high-quality education.
While this progress is encouraging and momentum is building, important work remains, especially for students and families in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools. Every child deserves access to an excellent education, and we remain committed to advancing policies and practices that make that goal a reality.
