The votes have been counted, and the people of Louisiana and East Baton Rouge Parish have spoken. We recognize that this moment lands differently depending on where you stand. Many in our community are relieved, while others are feeling the weight of a difficult loss and wondering what comes next. In the midst of all this sits an important opportunity to refocus our collective efforts on strengthening public education for all students.
The Alliance acknowledges that the deep and long-standing divisions within our community, brought into sharp relief by this election, do not disappear with the results. The challenges facing our schools did not begin with this vote, and they will not be ended by it alone.
Now is the time to move beyond division and recommit to the work of improving schools. Families on all ends of the parish share common priorities: safe schools, strong academics, stable environments, and access to high-quality opportunities for their children. Meeting those expectations will require collaboration, transparency, and a willingness to work across differences.
We urge community leaders, educators, and stakeholders to come together to address longstanding issues—improving school performance, investing in great educators, ensuring equitable access to quality options, and building trust with families.
Students cannot afford continued uncertainty or conflict. They need stability, consistency, and adults who are focused on solutions.
The Alliance remains committed to working with all partners to ensure that every student in East Baton Rouge Parish has the opportunity to succeed. The path forward requires unity, focus, and a shared commitment to setting aside differences in an expression of putting students first.
