The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action applauds the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and Superintendent Cole for approving the largest salary increase for public school teachers in decades.
Every child deserves an excellent education, and that begins with ensuring our schools can attract and retain excellent educators. Data show that a high-quality teacher in every classroom is the single most effective way to improve student achievement. By making this historic investment in teacher compensation, district leaders have proclaimed EBR Schools is a place where the very best teaching talent is valued and can thrive—setting the conditions for continued and significant academic progress.
While there is still work to be done, following through on this promise to our community marks an important step forward. We thank the School Board and Superintendent Cole for their leadership and for putting students at the center of this decision.
