Congratulations to LaMont Cole on his selection as the next superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish. Mr. Cole is an experienced and thoughtful educator, and we are looking forward to the leadership he will bring to this role. We are also hopeful that his steadfast demeanor will guide the way toward the board and whole community refocusing attention on the needs of Baton Rouge’s children.
Choosing a leader who will direct our children’s futures is never an easy task, but the Board has selected someone with strong qualifications, an extensive knowledge of the district, and a vision for the future. We are at a critical moment for education, as recent LEAP scores highlight a significant achievement gap between economically disadvantaged students and their higher-income peers, exacerbated by the disruptions caused by COVID-19.
The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students is dedicated to supporting this new chapter in our district. We believe that under Superintendent Cole’s guidance, and with the ongoing input of board members, parents, educators, and community leaders, we will see growth that unlocks the potential of every student in our district.
